First....

Yes I know it has been a ridiculous about of time since my last post, but what can I say, life as a new Mom has been crazy, however I wouldn't have it any other way! We have done so much in over the past few months it is hard to know where to start so today I am just going  to try and get my feet wet at blogging and not go to crazy, so here goes nothing!
Today I am going to attempt to share some pics of some of the first that were experienced as we stepped into parent hood almost 4 months ago.  These might seem like little things but they are also moments that we will never forget!
Our First Family Photo! Just Minutes after Hannah was born (sorry I couldn't get it to rotate)

First time meeting her Nonnie!

First time riding in a car!  We were heading home from the hospital, Joe and I had never been so scared to drive in our lives!

First tubby!  She screamed the entire time, this was because I was so scared I would make the water to hot that I made it too cold!  She now loves tubby time as long as she gets warm water!

Happy to be out of her first tub and in Mommy's arms!

First St. Patties Day!  She and Daddy had matching kiss me I'm Irish shirts!  So cute!

Well that's all for now, like I said just getting my feet wet today, hoping that I will be back with more on what we have been up to in the days ahead!

Hannah's First Photo Shoot

Ok, so there are many first that I have have documented over the past two months (yes two months...I know I am behind) that I am hoping to get on here and share in the up coming weeks, but I thought I would start with some fun pictures that we had taken when Hannah was 4 weeks old.  Considering that she screamed the entire time, our amazing photographer John Engel Photography was able to capture some beautiful photos of our sweet baby girl!
Please enjoy these, and I promise that I have many more blogs coming soon!

Lets Have a Baby Day!

Lets Have a Baby Day started on February 24th, 2012 bright and early in the am.  I was past due and headed into the hospital to be induced. Imagine our surprise when we woke up a white blanket outside. It was kind of funny because I have said since we became pregnant that it would snow the day I had Baby C. Sure enough it did! After we arrived at the hospital they started things moving but told us it would be late that night or early the next morning.  Sure enough they used their magic tools and were able to get to dilated to 4.5 cm by early evening and then we started with the petocin. After several hours of petocin, an epidural and having my water broken, things were moving along. I hit 6 cm and after that things started to go down hill. Baby C didn't want to drop down and on top if it all Baby C's heart rate would dip very low with every decent sized contraction that I would have. After trying about a million different options to try and make the baby more comfortable and not not succeeding, it was decided around 2 am that we would need a C-section to deliver Baby C safely.
So at 2:16 am, on February 25, 2012 our little bundle of Joy arrived! As I laid on the table shaking from all of the drugs that were running through my body and nervous and upset as could be because I was having a c-section......I finally hear the words we had been waiting to hear for a long 9 months...." Its a girl!"    As soon as they said that she was here I couldn't hold it together any more. Tears fell from my eyes and I suddenly didn't care at all that I was laying on a table cut open with my insides hanging out!I was a mom to a little baby girl!
No longer to we call our baby "Baby C" we will call her Hannah Joy Corbett!  She weighed in at 6lb and 7oz and was 19.5 inches long.  It was one of the longest most magical nights we have ever had and we are so grateful that she is here safe and sound and in our arms!
I have a attached a few pics of "Lets Have a Baby Day"

Nursery Completion!

Ok, so after weeks/months of hard work the nursery is finally complete!  I have a few pics to share so I hope you like it! Most of all I hope that Baby C likes it!  It should be noted that I didn't do most of the hard work in this room.  Joe did all of the painting, put in new hardwood floors and new baseboards, which was not an easy task and he did a great job!  My sister Ashley flew up a few weeks ago and did the rest of the nursery. She put everything together and put everything away in its place.  I still don't think we would have it all together if she had not come and done it all. She did a great job and I am so thankful for her amazing eye and organization skills!

My Friend Mr. Rodgers

I just wanted to make a quick note of a book I just read from my book club.  It is called "I'm Proud Of You" by Tim Madigan, Lessons Learned From My Friend Mr. Rodgers.
It is a wonderful book about friendship and has taught me a lot about the friend that I want to be and that one that God has called me to be.
It is the story of Tim Madigan a journalist who becomes friends with Fred Rodgers......yes Mr. Rodgers from TV after interviewing him for an article that he was writing. It is a great book and I recommended it to anyone and everyone! So if you are looking for something to read go for it!  After all who doesn't love Mr. Rodgers!  He was my favorite growing up!

Showered with Love!

First let me say that I am so blessed to have such great friends and family.  Second let me tell you that these friends and family have shown Joe, Baby C and I such love over the past several months. Back around Thanksgiving Joe and I headed south to spend the holiday with my family. While we were there I was blessed by not just 1 shower, but 2!  It was such a blessing for me to be able to celebrate this moment in our lives with my close friends and family who live so far away.  They have all been so faithful to pray for us and to pray for this child long before Baby C was ever in existence.
The first shower was given by my good friends Reesse Overturf, Tonya Alexander, Meredith Beeker and my sister Ashley Morgan.  It was in Charlotte and so many of my close friends from college, and from grad school were able to make the trip to come and celebrate with me.  There shower was beautiful, the food was amazing and the cake was so cute!  We received such wonderful gifts for baby C that I know we will get great use out of.
The second shower that was given to us was a shower with just my family the day after Thanksgiving.  It was given by my sister (she was a very busy girl that week!) and I was able to celebrate with my mom, dad, brother, aunts, uncles and cousins and grandparents.  It was such a sweet time as I do not get spend time with them often since they live all over the country. We received some wonderful gifts for baby C including a cross stitched poem that my mom made for the nursery.  Poem hung our nursery when we were kids. When my sister had my nephew Fletcher 2 years ago it was passed to her to hang in her nursery.  My mom was so sweet and made a second copy of the poem so that we could both have one. It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen and I cried the second I opened it. It was such an amazing surprise.
I have attached a few pics from the showers and I hope you can see how much fun we had celebrating Baby C who will be here before we know it!

Crock Pot Love!

In preparation for Baby C's arrival I have been on the look out for yummy and easy recipes that I can make with minimal ingredients and minimal mess!  I found this one on a friends facebook page.  It was left there by a friend of hers but I saw it, it looked good so thought I would try it.  I have to say it was extra yummy so I want to share it with all of you!  So here it goes!

Zesty Chicken

4 Chicken Breast
1 8oz cream cheese
1 Cup white wine
1 pkt zesty Italian Seasoning (for Salad Dressing)
1 package of fresh mushrooms, sliced (optional)

Cook all day in the crock pot on low and serve over rice!

Enjoy!

Jummping For Joy

Well we are officially only a few weeks away from baby C's arrival and things at the Corbett household are in full swing as we prepare to meet our little one.  While the nursery isn't ready just yet I thought I would show you a pic of the baby bedding that will soon be installed in he next week or two.  It is called Jumping for Joy (which is how I feel about about the fact that God has chosen me to become a mother!) it is by Kenneth Brown and it is cute and gender neutral, which I have to say is VERY hard to find!  I love it I hope that Baby C does too!

I hope to post pics of the finished nursery soon.  Joe has taken on quite the project of all new hardwood floors, painting and new trim throughout the room.  We only have a little trim left to put up and then we can move everything in!  My sister is coming this weekend to help put it all together so fingers crossed that it will all be done and I will post pics asap!
