I just love the Olympics! I think that they are great, I love to watch all the different random events that I know absolutely nothing about. I can sit in from of the TV for hours and watch 60 men cross-country ski in a circle. I am not normal! I realized the other night that I really do have a problem with my little obsession with the Olympics. Apparently I am trying to project my obsession onto my husband, who really has no interest in the games at all so long as America is winning. The other night I sat here trying to explain something to Joe about men's figure skating for several minutes. As I went on and on with details upon details my loving husband patiently allowed me to speak only to respond saying, " no offense honey, I know you love the Olympics, but if you really think I care about men's figure skating you are crazy!" I am losing my mind! Had I really thought that my husband would really care about all the details of men's figure skating?! Truthfully, I don't even like men's figure skating that much. But it's the Olympics so I was totally enthralled with every little thing that the commentators had to say, the costumes, the performances, and all the technical jumps and spins to the point that I could now be considered an expert! Maybe NBC will call to see if I want to be a commentator on the next winter Olympics? You never know!
The real reason I love the Olympics has everything to do with the fact that I love my country. Anytime I have an opportunity to cheer for my fellow Americans I just can't stop myself. I love this wonderful country that I live in and I am so proud to be an American. God has blessed me and allowed me to live in a country where I am free. Free to worship my God, free to speak my mind, free to learn and educate myself, the right to vote for what I believe this country should be. People lose there lives every year trying to come to this wonderful place that I live. I never want to take for granted that I live in the USA! That is why I love the Olympics! I love being able to cheer on all of the athletes who wear and represent the red, white and blue. There is just something so sweet about watching an athlete do a victory lap with the stars and stripes wrapped around his or her neck. It makes me so proud to see these athletes doing their best to represent us. There are only a few days left of these games so if you haven't watched any yet, make sure you check it out and cheer for our athletes in the red, white and blue. You can be sure that I will be parked in front of the TV watching as much as I can, skating, skiing, bobsledding, and yes even curling! I know maybe I'm a dork, but I'm a patriotic one and I just can't help myself!

A blog?!
OK, so I'm sure that most of you are shocked that I, Avery Corbett am even attempting to "blog," but I have decided to give it a try in an effort to share the adventures of mine and Joe's life together with those that are far from us. I'm not sure what to share or even if your are interested in hearing what we have to say, but if our life over the past few years is any indication of what I will be sharing I'm sure you will all be in for some laughs! Lord knows we have a treasure chest of silly stories and life moments to fill you in on, everything from setting the kitchen on fire the first week we were married to the recent graduation of Joe from college! So as the snow is falling outside here in CT we announce our entry into the world of blogging! Stay tuned for pictures and stories of the life of the Corbett family which includes our goofy dog Barkley and we will try our best not to bore you but keep you updated about what God is doing in our life and the funny adventures He is taking us on all along the way!
